Carmel House Triumphs in Swimming

Congratulations to Carmel House, who this week triumphed at the House Swimming Carnival for the fourth consecutive year. The House’s hard work and determination were rewarded when the champion trophy was raised by Carmel House Captains, Phoebe Peacock and Jada Sciacca.On Tuesday 10 March, OLMC’s annual House Swimming Carnival was held at the Northcote Aquatic Centre. The weather was perfect for the occasion and a great day was enjoyed by students and staff as they swam, played volleyball, volunteered or cheered their teammates on.

For the fourth year in a row, the students in Carmel House out-swam and out-participated the other three Houses to take home the coveted House Trophy. The final tally was:

  • Carmel – 1st Place with a big lead of 1221pts
  • Loreto – 2nd Place on 1084 pts
  • McAuley – 3rd Place on 1072 pts
  • Mercy– 4th Place on 895 pts.

This year it was Mercy House who were awarded the House Spirit Award for their outstanding cheering throughout the day and for the number of volunteers and participants.

At each Carnival, a Year Level Champion and Runner Up are announced and presented with a medal. This medal is awarded to the top swimmers in each year level, determined by the number of points they are awarded throughout the day. A big congratulations to the following students:

Year 7 Champion – Darby Wilkes  & Runner up – Isabella Richardson

Year 8 Champion – Zoe Basile & Runner up – Amelia Howes

Year 9 Champion – Sofia Piaia & Runner up – Alessia Napolitano

Year 10 Champion – Charlotte Woods & Runner up – Georgia Alexander

Year 11 Champion – Olivia Nguyen & Runner up – Eliza Bannan

Year 12 Champion – Alice Peck & Runner up – Isabel Clements

Congratulations also to Olivia Nguyen who was awarded the overall Fastest Swimmer on the day.
