Welcome and Investiture Mass

Posted: 25-Feb-2020

On Thursday evening, 20 February, we officially welcomed all new students and their families to OLMC and formally invested our 2020 student leaders. Held in the Nalleijerring Centre, the Mass was led by Father Kevin Hennessy. The thoughtfully planned prayers, readings and rituals were appreciated by all in attendance (close to 700 people), and our choir contributed significantly to the uplifting experiences and outcomes of the occasion.

At the Welcome and Investiture Mass, each new student to OLMC (most of whom were Year 7s) was given a gift of a candle and bookmark. Our principal, Judith Weir, spoke of the candle’s symbolic intent, namely, it is the College’s hope that during their time at OLMC, each girl’s light will shine, that she will discover her gifts and talents, and that her sense of a God who loves her and wants her to live life to the full will grow within.

The Mass also enabled the assembled students, staff and parents to participate in the official investiture of our Year 12 Student Leadership Team.
